Time for the first of our lil’ Zombie goodies here at the Litterbox as part of our February 2017 “Zombies On The Rampage!!” Festival. This time out? How about a nifty lil’ South Indian Tamil film… complete and uncut and with perfect English subtitles… the full Zombie Apocalypse short film thriller “Uruvan”.
Our synopsis? “Ordinary guy Vikram finds his routine everyday life torn to shreds when the explosion of a chemical plant lands him smack dab in the middle of the Zombie Apocalypse. Can one lone man overcome both his fear and his asthma to rise above the chaos and survive the horror? Does he have the will to fight all odds just to see another day?”
Guess we’ll find out… cause Neko’s not gonna spoil the fun till you get the chance to see it yourself. Then we’ll compare notes in the comments, o’ Gentle Visitors… 😉 Enjoy!! 🙂
Hmmmm? Not a bad lil’ film overall. This is definitely one of those cases where the genre and the plot favor a low-budget effort with a small cast. “Uruvan” doesn’t stray too far from the tried and true Zombie genre staples, but this actually helps sell it, I think by making this one more of a slice of Indian filmmaking’s take on the whole idea. Throwing in the spectre of the Bhophal Chemical plant disaster was a nice touch too as the initiator of our Zombie Apocalypse. All in all, both Carolyn and I felt this one worked well within its short runtime. It’s acting, cinematography, and practical make-up effects are all good… although the 3-D splatter effects were a bit less convincing. Still, I give it a well-earned 3 “Meows”. It would have stretched out to a nice full length feature had the people involved had more money, I’m thinking. Maybe sometime down the line that might happen, and if it does this wee lady would be willing to give it a watch for certain. 😉
What do you all think, o’ Gentle Visitors? Chime in… don’t be shy… 🙂
