Yep. It’s been a whole looooong while since I was makin’ any progress here at the ol’ Litterbox. Most of my Gentle Visitors have probably drifted off to other blogs thinkin’ this goofy lady had up and quit things ’round here.
Nope. I’m still hanging in there, but it’s been a rough couple months coping with my hormonal blahs and in order to shake them off I’ve been spending lots more time trying to be physically active to rev up my metabolism. Lots of long walks… lots of visits to the gym… more Tai-chi. It’s actually been pretty darn good for me too, and I’ve even lost a few pounds… not that I had all that many to start with, mind you. 😉
Through it all my sweet Carolyn has been a supportive saint, dealing with my blue moody days and surviving my crazy hyper ones too. So… since our 2nd anniversary has rolled around, (Tomorrow, Yay!!!) we’re going away for the weekend together to share a lil’ “We” time. Where are we going? Not really certain. My lack of ambition has kept me from being really proactive in the planning or decision-making department of late. So… to sorta get spontaneous and shake things up… we’re just going to hop in the car with our overnight bags and go wherever the road takes us starting early tomorrow morning… (Roughly east…. into Vermont… probably somewhere cozy with decent indoor plumbing… I mean we’re not total footloose vagabonds after all… 😉 )
We should be back home, hopefully happy and rested from our random adventure sometime late Sunday or early Monday. Maybe then, if luck is with me, I’ll have some happy inspiration to get back to posting again, starting with our mysterious journey and the fun and hi-jinx that were had by all… Till then, fingers crossed and “Meow, meow, for now!”
So… I know, I know…. I’ve been pretty much MIA of late at the ol’ Litterbox and haven’t been posting like I should. Again… Sigh….
I wish I had a single good reason for it all, but mostly I’ve found myself spending practically all my free time these last few weeks with my darling wife instead of on my own personal stuff. It’s amazing how much fun we’ve been having together…. almost like we did waaaay back in college. Our recent wedding anniversary really reawakened that sense of fun and companionship for both of us just like we had back in those days when we were young and crazy and completely carefree with the whole world waiting for us around every corner. It’s just soooo darn hard not to want to “play hooky” with my best friend every single minute of every single day….
Still, I do want all my Gentle Visitors to know that their Favorite Movie watchin’ Catgirl hasn’t given up on things hereabouts. There will be more posts soon… but first, I’m happy to announce that we’re taking off for another Adventure. A whole week’s Wilderness Hiking excursion to the mountains of New Hampshire. Yep. That’s right… EEEEEEHH!!! Yes!! We’re Finally Goin’ Camping!! 😀
So that means we’ll be out of town starting tomorrow, but should be back from our adventures come August when hopefully… all revived and refreshed… I’ll be able to get back to being more active around here. (And maybe even with some wonderful tales to share of our experiences out in the Great Outdoors…)
Till then, stay well, and “Meow, meow for now!!”
So… it’s December 31st and as 2014 quickly fades away and a bright sparkly new year awaits me, I finally find myself with a day off and the chance to update my Diary here at the Litterbox and fill all my gentle Visitors in on the details of our Holiday trip to visit the family.
“The family”. Our family… They love us and want us in their lives. No matter what. As the frosty “cold war” between Carolyn and her Mom continues, they’ve been till now acting pretty much like neutral Switzerland, bridging the divide between East and West…. figuratively speaking. But not anymore.
Unhappy that Carolyn hasn’t crumbled, Mrs. Simms upped the ante this Thanksgiving by deciding to try to cut us off from Sandra and the clan by going out-of-the-way to impose herself on them for Holiday visits… trying to intimidate Carolyn in some stupid effort to hurt and punish her further. But it’s not going to work. Sandra put her foot down and basically told her Mom that even if Mrs. Simms wanted to break up her own family with this, we were always going to be a part of hers. Sandra loves her “big sister”… and me too, it seems.
How could we not want to hang out for the Christmas Holiday with loving supportive people like her and her family? Wanna hear what we got up to this time out? Hehehe…. then by now, you know the drill… 😉
Psst! This way for more!
Monday afternoon and Carolyn and I are back home, safe and sound from our weekend camping adventure. But apparently it was very near thing……
Most of Vermont got slammed fairly hard by Hurricane Irene Sunday, and we only missed it by hours, having decided to pass on a miserable day of rain and wind to leave for the warmth and comfort of home well before dawn that morning. It’s probably a good thing too. I don’t think being stranded in the mountains was exactly what Carolyn had in mind for her first woodland experience.
I sort of had the feeling we should make ourselves scarce, once the rain started falling late Saturday night, and this lil’ Catgirl is all about following her instincts….. Luckily it was easy to convince Carolyn she’d probably rather spend the next couple of days lazing about the apartment with lil’ ol’ me than risking a longer stay in Vermont. All in all, we did have two nice days in the woods (and two nice nights cuddling in my cozy sleeping bag….) so I’m still considering it a success.
Want to know just what sort of fun we did manage to squeeze into the two days away? Then you’ll have to follow your instincts and “Read On”…….
Yay!! It’s vacation time! Let the “Happy Kitten Dance of Joy” commence!! 🙂
Starting this Friday, your Favorite Catgirl Princess is taking her first well deserved vacation in years…. a whole week away from the restaurant and all the usual annoying day to day responsibilities that go with it. Instead… at least for the weekend, Carolyn and I are off to the wilds of Vermont for a bit of camping and backpacking, just the way I used to do back in high-school and college.
This means of course, that I’ll be away from the ol’ “Litterbox” till late Monday if all goes well and Hurricane Irene doesn’t make life in the great outdoors too darn miserable that is. We almost changed our minds about going, but ultimately the idea of having some proper quality time together overwhelmed any fears of inclement weather and we decided to go for it despite the chance we’ll get rained out much of the weekend. Sam has promised to take lil’ Ting-ting for the Weekend and give her all the love, care, and attention she needs while her mommies are away….. I just can’t wait!!
Still… given that this is a first time out in the wild for Carolyn…. who despite being the more “sporty” of the two of us… has actually never been camping in her whole life. No kidding. So I’m going to have to take things easy on her….
Wanna know what’s in store for my sweetie and me? Then you’ll want to “Read On”…..
