So… have any of my Gentle Visitors ever wondered what “Raiders” would be like if you mixed it up with a little vintage Eurosex naughtiness ala “Barbarella”? No? Well, what kind of globe-trotting Catgirl adventuress would I be if I didn’t dig deep in the DVD vault for something a little spicy… a little racy… a wee bit risqué to really show you just how much “Raiders” has influenced films from all around the world. This time out, the 1984 French film “The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak” based on… of all things… an odd little bondage/fetish cartoon series. Yep, I kid you not. 😉
Our synopsis goes like this: “Sweet naive virginal Gwendoline leaves her convent school and arrives in China in a box on a quest to find the fate of her lost father who was last seen searching for a rare butterfly in the legendary “Land of the Yik Yak”. Saved from white slavers and a fate worse than death by her loyal maidservant and a devil-may-care adventurer, soon she is knee-deep in trouble. Along the way she and her companions must face pirates, scoundrels, vicious native tribesmen, poisonous desert windstorms, and a lost race of Amazon warriors guarding a volcanic mountain full of diamonds.”
Hmmmm? Yes… I know… Sounds a bit naughty… (Just the sort of film to tease my sweet Carolyn… and convince her I really am a nutty lil’ dweeb for sure. 😉 ) but it also sounds really campy and way fun too. So for a bit of jungle adventure fun the way only the French could manage it, let’s all kick back and enjoy the fun together shall we? 😉
Psst! This way for more!
So after our lil’ excursion to Russia and a movie that was actually pretty darn good… how about we jump in the wayback machine to return to the wild euro-trash cinema of the 1980’s for our next “Thrilling Adventures!! March Movie Review Festival” offering here at the ol’ Litterbox and a look at a film reputed to be one of the worst ever made by infamous euro-sleaze director Jess Franco, 1983’s “Diamonds of Kilimandjaro”.
Our synopsis goes like this: “A group of greedy explorers and soldiers of fortune take a safari deep into uncharted Africa to search for the daughter of a dying woman lost years before as a child in a plane crash. That child, Diana, has grown to womanhood as the White Goddess of a tribe of vicious natives guarding the secret of a horde of diamonds worth millions. Will their greed, lust, and murderous plots result in riches or death for them all in the heart of the savage jungle?”
So this time out we get promised two-fisted heroes, a treasure of diamonds, and even a spunky jungle girl to boot! Somehow though… I have the feeling it’s all gonna go spectacularly bad…. 😉 But I’m a big girl now… and suitably warned, I’m ready to experience the horror that is… “Diamonds of Kilimandjaro”.

Our Honeymoon trip approaches, but there’s still time for a few more Reviews… (if only this wee lady can get herself properly motivated that is 😉 ) … and this time out it’s off to India for a look at the Bollywood sexploitation/ horror film “Ragini MMS 2”, sequel to the original “found footage horror” effort of 2011 which your Favorite Catgirl already reviewed HERE. The original was a somewhat surprising hit at the box office with it’s scandalous premise and it was inevitable that there would be a sequel somewhere down the line. Well, now it’s finally here, and starring Canadian born porn film starlet Sunny Leone… probably cast more for her scandalous reputation than anything else, but will even that help this sequel sink or swim? Guess we’ll find out, eh? 😉
Our synopsis goes along these lines: “In the summer of 2011, a couple’s dirty weekend turned into their worst nightmare as an MMS attempt of their most private moments, went horribly wrong. Unimaginable & inexplicable things began to happen and they found themselves at the mercy of forces beyond the realm of understanding, This was the “Ragini MMS Scandal”. Now, 2 years later a young enthusiastic crew and an over-the-top film director re-visit this farmhouse in a bid to make a film on this shocking yet sexy MMS Scandal. The film top-lines adult film star Sunny Leone, who is playing herself in this “film-within a-film”. As destiny would have it, the unassuming crew is led onto finding the horrors that inhabit the house. As strange and creepy things begin to befall them they realize there’s no return from here – THEY ARE TRAPPED! The only way to escape is to destroy the evil spirits for which they need to unearth the back story of the house… only to release a bigger, untold truth!”
Ummmm? I have to admit, I was a bit on the fence about watching this one, especially given the somewhat shabby way our heroine Ragini was treated in the original, and porn films really aren’t this lady’s cup of tea… but then Hindi films always tease more than revel in such trappings, so there’s really no way to know for certain what’s in store without just taking a deep breath, wishing for some luck from the “Movie Faeries” and just going for it…. and Hindi DVD’s are soooo inexpensive!! So, if risque sexploitative films work for you, then just scamper along with this Catgirl and we’ll see what potentially naughty Hindi thrills and chills are here to be had, shall we? 😉
Psst! This way for more!
I’ve had this one simmering in the pile of new DVD’s for a while and a few evenings ago it finally found it’s way to the top. Well… all you regular readers know my love for baaaaad, baaaad cinema goodies, so how could I not give the Region 2 German release of “Zombie Strippers” a try? But, ….you say,… “Neko-chan…. there are no long haired ghosts in this one!!”
OK, OK….. I know… There are definitely times that people say to me… “Ummmm? Miyuki, how come you only ever watch all those trashy subtitled asian horror films?” So… for those people I’d like to use this review to prove that this lil’ Catgirl will also watch trashy english language movies too. Hehehehe!! So…. without further adieu, lets explore the absolute “craptaculousity” that is “Zombie Strippers”!!
(Pssst!! That’s your subtle hint to “Read On”….)
Now you all know how much your Favorite Catgirl Princess thrives on trashy, tasteless, exploitative Asian cinema so when “The Girls Rebel Force of Competitive Swimmers” popped up on DVD of course Neko-chan had to snatch it up immediately.
Japanese schoolgirls…. zombies….. gore…. evil villains with unwholesome plans for World Domination……everything this nutty Catgirl needs for a baaad, baaad evening of movie viewing.
At least you would think so…..
Ahhhhhh…..another day off from the drudgery of work, and another big ol’ pile of DVD’s in my mailbox. What could be better? Mistress Neko wants to curl up and rot her lil’ brain with some baaaad, baaaad movies….and what could be more perfect than the low budget “direct to DVD” wonder that is “Werewolf in a Woman’s Prison”?
Originally scheduled to be released last September 4th as part of Under the Bed Films “Midnight Horror Stories” line, it just inexplicably never came out, despite much hype by Fangoria Magazine and others. Most figured it was headed for the “Big Video Shelf” in the sky……but…. At last it has turned up as a very low budget disc that looks like the filmmakers ran it off in their cellar for general distribution. But who cares? It’s a cheesy “Women in Prison/ Monster Movie”….not “Gone With the Wind”. (That much Neko-chan can promise you for certain. Hehehe…)
Well, anyways, here’s a quick synopsis from the film’s Homepage: “Ignoring the warnings of local residents, Sarah and her boyfriend, Jack, camp out in the mountains of Campuna. Jack gets ripped apart by a werewolf, and Sarah is badly mauled. Blamed for her boyfriend’s gruesome death, Sarah is thrust into a Third World women’s prison for the criminally insane. Here she and other helpless females get abused and sold for sex by the evil warden and his whip-wielding lesbian cohort. But Sarah discovers she has super-animal strength. As the full moon emerges, she turns into a huge, ferocious monster, and rips many of her abusers to bloody shreds. The warden decides to make money off her affliction by putting on a show during the next full moon. Even the warden gets shocked as the monster breaks loose, and rips everyone to pieces. Will the warden get to use his silver bullets? Or will he end up another victim of Sarah’s out-of-control lycanthropic powers? A must for werewolf and women’s prison film aficionados.”
Sounds good so far, right….well then, let’s read on…..
