Neko’s Jukebox – October 2017

Nope… not abducted by aliens… not being held against my will in a dirty shipping container somewhere in Gdansk… not languishing in a medically induced coma to overcome my perimenopause. I’ve just been taking some time off… well OK… maybe a WHOLE LOTTA time off. But now I’m back. With the afternoon off I’m bopping around the apartment doing a few chores and listening to music videos on Youtube while singing along. Sure… Ting-ting thinks mommy’s gone nutty, but then she’s known that since she arrived here at this wee lady’s apartment. 😉

Anywhoo… just encountered this particularly adorable cover of Shakira’s theme to the Disney hit “Zootopia” by Japanese pop starlet Ami Nakashima. What can I say? Sooooo darn cute! I’m thinkin’ this wee Catgirl’s got herself a new “lip-sync” for Halloween! Carolyn will just love this one, I’m thinking. Maybe if I can nail the Japanese lyrics, I can even get her to practice the English ones and we can do a duet together! Fun, fun, fun!!

Yep. I’m finally starting to feel a bit like my goofy fun loving self again, so now that I’m dipping my toes back here into the Litterbox, expect some more activity soon. Time to blow away the dust and shoo away the crickets and get things back to normal here at the ol’ Litterbox again. Till next time, “Meow, meow for now!”

Anniversary Time Again!

Sigh…  Yep. It’s been loooong loooong time since I posted here at the ol’ Litterbox. I gotta say, of late, my ambition has been lots like those water wells out in the desert in those oldie-timey Western movies. Reeeeaally dry and nearly empty. Well…. OK…. maybe there’s some gunky mud at the bottom, but that’s about it. Kinda sad and depressing.

Much of that is due no doubt to my ongoing battle with the spectre of approaching menopause. (At times I almost swear I can hear my lil’ ovaries shriveling up…. 😉 )

But, I’d also blame our continued crappy  weather for some of my seasonal blues. By now, it should be all warm and sunny and green hereabouts. But nooooooo. We still are cold and miserably wet, and as a result I’m not even feeling my usual burst of manic seasonal energy that gives me insomnia as I feel that wonderful change of seasons. It used to drive me crazy when it happened. Now I definitely miss it.

Still, with tomorrow being Carolyn’s and my wedding anniversary yet again, I felt the need this afternoon to break my silence and do a proper Diary post for those of my Special Visitors still peeking in now and again. If there are any of you still out there. 🙂

Yep… the Zombie Apocalypse is still shambling along here at the Litterbox, although yours truly has had her own bout with a nasty viral pandemic that sidelined me for the last couple weeks. Sorry ’bout that. I’m all better now and so it’s time to get back to things once more. No “ifs, ands. or buts”… 🙂

February is upon us, o’ Gentle Visitors and recent events in the US political situation have convinced me that, yes… believe it or not… pigs can fly. Oh yes… if ever there was a sure sign that “The End Of Days” is soon gonna be upon us, then our recent Presidential election was about the most blatant warning that something terrible is getting ready to happen. Economic collapse… societal implosion… terminal chigger infestation, you just name it… it’s gonna happen. And sooner than later… My personal bet? Well this lil’ lady is absolutely certain that pretty darn soon hungry Zombies will be eager to start nibbling on our noggins in search of tasty brains… 😉

And that can only mean one thing…. It’s time for another Zombie Film Festival Extravaganza here at the ol’ Litterbox so we can all celebrate our mutual descent into the imminent Doomsday in style. We’ll have movie reviews, a shared review with our blogging friend Stephen from “Gweilo Ramblings”, a few short films to share, and plenty of Apocalyptic Catgirl Fun while we await the devastation to come.

Well… actually she’s leaving town… at least for the Holidays. 🙂 You see… She’s made her list… she’s checked it twice. She knows who’s been naughty… and she knows who’s been especially nice. Heck… she even knows one very special lady who’s managed to combine the two juuuuust right to do her best to try to help a certain melancholy Catgirl fight her moody Winter Blues. 😉

So what does that mean?

Why it’s time for “Santa Neko” to grab her sack full of Christmas Joy and make her annual pilgrimage to the in-laws for a Holiday of fun and frolics with her adorable wife and the family yet again. No magical sleigh… no enchanted reindeer… but we do have Carolyn’s trusty Toyota and my big ol’ thermos of Hot Cocoa to help us on our journey over hill and dale, Hehehe.

I know I’ve been absent for a reeeeaallly long time here at the ol’ Litterbox, but even though this is just a quick post, I did want to wish all my Gentle Visitors a “Happy Holidays” from both of us before we left. Winter has pretty much drained my mood this year, leaving me even more lethargic and apathetic than usual, I’m sorry to say, but I’m hoping the Holiday will lift my spirits and free me from my doldrums.

Keep your fingers crossed, and maybe when we get back home “Santa Neko” will have a late surprise for those of you who’ve been good little boys and girls this year… or at least a new Review or two. If my “Magical Catgirl powers” hold out that is… 😉

A Catgirl’s Cozy Kitchen… “Sweet & Spicy Hot Curried Pickes”

Warm Summer days are gone… and Fall is threatening to turn to Winter faster than this wee lady might like so spending time in my nice warm kitchen is definitely something I look forward to these days.

As most of my Gentle Visitors might have noticed, I kinda “spaced out” this whole last month and let all of October… Halloween included… slip completely right on by without sharing any new posts or any of my usual fun and hijinks. For that I’m sorry… seems I’m still continuing my wrestling with lethargy and my nasty “blaaaaah” feelings more than I’d like to admit. D’ohhh…. 😦

Yep. My poor lil’ noggin’ is still fighting the blues. But… if there’s one thing that can get me excited through all this, it’s yummy curry. Sweet, spicy, freakishly hot curry. Thanks to that wonderful stuff, at least my taste buds are lively these days….

Recently I even had one of my “midnight epiphanies” that led to a brand new culinary experiment. Wanna hear all about it? Why of course you do…. after all, who can pass up the wonderous miracle that is curry? 😉

“Holdin’ My Breath…”

Whew!! I’ve slipped a couple of days on my posts, but we’re still doin’ pretty darn good for our “Frolicking Under The Sea: Mermaid Fantasy Film Festival – August 2016” movie theme month here at the ol’ Litterbox. I’ve got the whole next 3 days off from work too, so chances are good I’ll get a few more done by weekend’s end. Yay!

To hold you over, I thought I might while away the afternoon making a Diary post to keep you all up-to-date on this wee lady’s recent Magical Catgirl adventures… 😉

“Happy 2nd Anniversary!!.. Two Down, Forever After To Go!! “

Well… I’m late with my postings… again… Grrr… Grrr… GRRRR!!!  Stupid, stupid late. Weeks and weeks late… d’ohh!! Perimenopause… how I hate what you’ve done to me!!! Auuuggghhh!!  (At least I’m consistent… right? Gotta give me that… 😉 )

I had meant to get back with a Diary entry about our anniversary celebrations the very day we got back, but May is always soooo darn busy for me at work. Always. This year, our happy day fell right in between the two weekends that our local colleges have their graduation ceremonies… always a really big time for me at the restaurant. After I got back from our lil’ getaway, it was pretty much non-stop 12 hour days for me that whole week right through that Sunday. But then… Monday morning, and the grads were finally all gone, so it seems Miyuki’s had herself a whole day off!! Yay! (Not that anything ended up successfully happening… Nope. Instead I got distracted and my attention frittered away and then one thing followed another and then “Bleeeeehhhh” again..  😦 )

But I’m making a herculean effort to shake that today. Seriously!!

Mind you… that merely means I’ll have to spend so extra special effort to catch up on the plethora of stuff I let slip these few  last weeks, but I’m thinkin’ it would be downright criminal if I didn’t make one of those lil’ tasks a quick posting here to bring all my Gentle Visitors up to date on our latest hi-jinx. So, with that all said, here we go!!

“Long Time, No Post…”

Yep. It’s been a whole looooong while since I was makin’ any progress here at the ol’ Litterbox. Most of my Gentle Visitors have probably drifted off to other blogs thinkin’ this goofy lady had up and quit things ’round here.

Nope. I’m still hanging in there, but it’s been a rough couple months coping with my hormonal blahs and in order to shake them off I’ve been spending lots more time trying to be physically active to rev up my metabolism. Lots of long walks… lots of visits to the gym… more Tai-chi. It’s actually been pretty darn good for me too, and I’ve even lost a few pounds… not that I had all that many to start with, mind you. 😉

Through it all my sweet Carolyn has been a supportive saint, dealing with my blue moody days and surviving my crazy hyper ones too. So… since our 2nd anniversary has rolled around, (Tomorrow, Yay!!!) we’re going away for the weekend together to share a lil’ “We” time. Where are we going? Not really certain. My lack of ambition has kept me from being really proactive in the planning or decision-making department of late. So… to sorta get spontaneous and shake things up… we’re just going to hop in the car with our overnight bags and go wherever the road takes us starting early tomorrow morning… (Roughly east…. into Vermont… probably somewhere cozy with decent indoor plumbing… I mean we’re not total footloose vagabonds after all… 😉 )

We should be back home, hopefully happy and rested from our random adventure sometime late Sunday or early Monday. Maybe then, if luck is with me, I’ll have some happy inspiration to get back to posting again, starting with our mysterious journey and the fun and hi-jinx that were had by all… Till then, fingers crossed and “Meow, meow, for now!”

“From Russia, With Love!!”

Well… February has slid to a close, and although I’m aching to see some warm weather after winter’s seemingly endless onslaught, March has shaped up to be colder, nastier, and wetter than either January or February combined. 😦 Still, even if my spirits are at a low ebb thanks to the one-two punch of my normal seasonal depression and my recent hormonal shifts, once in a while something nice comes along to lift me up and fill me with the all the happy feels… and nobody is better at making that happen than a certain silly Catgirl’s wonderful soulmate. Always scheming to come up with new ways to shower lil’ ol’ me with affection, she’s managed to poke a hole in the grey cloudy miasma that has had me in it’s grip with another of her special lil’ surprises.

Which means, it’s “Diary” time again here at the Litterbox, Gentle Visitors. Time yet again for me to give you all another long overdue peek into the ordinary boring life of a middle-aged Catgirl. So what are you waitin’ for? C’mon… silly. You know what to do… 😉
