Valentines Day…. Candy hearts and chocolate treats… loving tokens of affection offered by smitten victims of Cupid’s sometimes surprisingly capricious target practice….
These last couple of years, this day has taken on special meaning for your Favorite Catgirl Princess ever since I held my breath and took that scary leap into the “unknown” with my sweet Carolyn and found myself so happily entangled with the most unexpectedly wonderful results.
It’s been two years now, since we stopped being simply “best friends” and became so much more, and I can’t believe how truly happy we both are to have each other.
Naturally, I couldn’t imagine letting this day pass us by without making it special for her to let her know just how much I treasure having her in my life. Nope… not on your life.
But, as always… if you wanna know how Neko spent her Valentine’s Day and hear all those intimate Catgirl details, you just know you’re gonna have to “Read On”…. right?
Work has monopolized most of my free time lately, but with Valentine’s Day also being our “Anniversary”, there was no way I wasn’t going to make a special effort to take some time away from the Restaurant to do things up properly. Unfortunately, Carolyn couldn’t do the same, having no more Personal Time saved up after using it all for the Christmas and New Years holidays (and my birthday of course…). So rather than go away together or something like that, I planned to do something a bit more “intimate” for us to share some precious time.
The day itself started early… far earlier than I figured, with Carolyn gently waking lazy lil’ me on Monday morning to wish me a happy 2nd anniversary…. with a lil’ naughty “playtime” for us before she had to leave for work. She’s a gentle but very playful lover, and we enjoyed ourselves with plenty of sweet teasing, gentle kisses, and erotic snuggling until the arrival of dawn brought it all to a reluctant end at last. Once the dawn had lit the bedroom with a soft light bright enough for us to see each other at last, Carolyn realized it was time for her to shower and head in for work. One final kiss and she was gone, leaving me pleasantly exhausted enough to still want to catch another hour of sleep before rousing myself to begin the day in earnest.
The holidays were nice, but they definitely meant we’ve gotten way to extravagant in our spending, so this year we promised each other not to go all crazy and overboard spending even more money on each other for Valentines Day. Not that we couldn’t celebrate mind you…. and I told Carolyn that just being alone together would be a treat on our very special day. But…. in order to keep it “special”, I wanted to do the one thing I knew would make her happy…. cook for us.
My sweet Carolyn… she’s such a creative, talented, wonderful woman in soooo, soooo many ways…. but she’s also such a terrible, terrible cook!! It’s the one thing she’s never been able to do well her entire life. When she lived in her old place, she practically lived on take-out food, prepackaged microwave meals, and other convenience food. She never learned to cook as a little girl…. and the few times she’s ever tried to help me in the kitchen she’s only proven that if there is a gene for this, it somehow escaped being incorporated into her DNA. Since we’ve been together, she constantly tells me how lucky she feels that her adorable girlfriend also happens to be blessed with this particular gift of the Kitchen Fairies. Otherwise, she says she’d probably starve. It helps that I actually enjoy being in a kitchen and see it as a chance to be creative and daring as I explore the various ways seemingly exotic recipes from all over the place can come together and become something new. Especially for those I’m closest to…..
I’d had an idea for just such a recipe for some time, and Valentine’s Day seemed the perfect excuse to give it a whirl. I’ve always liked my food somewhat spicy, wild, and exotic… and, luckily for me, Carolyn also shares that too. (Another example to me of just how perfectly suited for each other we truly are… Sigh!!!) So…. one quick trip to the market later and I had all the ingredients for….. Curried Indian-style Lasagna with Apples and Portabello Mushrooms!! Mmmmm!!! So yummy sounding I just knew it would work….
So that was my Monday…. The apartment all to myself, with my favorite music on the stereo, the delicious scent of garam masala, onions, and apples bubbling along on the stove as I worked on my curry sauce and danced around in my sweat-shorts and slippers. Ting-ting scampered around my ankles trying to distract me to play with her until the pungent scent of the curry proved too much for her lil’ nose to handle and she made a hasty retreat back to the bedroom and her lil’ basket. Poor lil’ thing….. A shame too, as a good fruity curry has to be this lil’ Catgirl’s favorite food in the whole darn universe….
It was a nice day… and in between tasks in the kitchen I was even able to surf the Internet a wee bit, tracking down a couple of more movies on DVD, find some new Russian pop music CD’s, and read some other people’s Blogs I follow sporadically. Multitasking…. sometimes it actually does happen!
By late afternoon I knew Carolyn would be itching to sneak out of work early if she could manage it, so while my yummy lasagna was baking, I chilled the chardonnay and got my garlic and sweet chili focaccia ready to slip into the oven. Then it was off to the bathroom to make myself all pretty and alluring for my sweetie and slip on the final surprise to make the evening just perfect. A scandalous lacy scarlet bra and panty set from my last shopping trip to the Mall with Sam. I’d been waiting for just the chance to spring it on Carolyn…. and this was the perfect time. With them hidden under a chunky sweater and a nice pair of jeans, I looked soooo innocent….. but felt soooo naughty, hehehe!!
As expected, Carolyn wasted no time getting home, arriving a good half hour earlier than usual. She found Ting-ting and me playing on the couch, the mouthwatering smell of dinner now far less pungent, but still delightfully noticeable. Naturally… she couldn’t resist adding her own contribution to our evening meal, a decadently sinful chocolate truffle cake from the local bakery down on the square across from my restaurant. I would have scolded her for thinking she needed to do it… but…. who can say “No!!” to chocolate?
It was a wonderful meal…. and the Curried Lasagna was as absolutely yummy as I had imagined it would be. We put a serious dent in it… just the two of us… leaving barely enough for me to take to work for Sam and the girls as a nice surprise the next day. The chocolate truffle cake? Just the perfect thing to take into the living room and eat while we cuddled together on the couch for the evening’s movies. On tap for the evening? Why some romance films of course… if, like a certain wacky Catgirl, you consider a double feature of 1938’s “The Adventures of Robin Hood” and 1940’s “The Mark of Zorro“ your idea of romance. You mean it’s not? Silly, silly people….. Hehehe!!
“Robin Hood” was as fun a classic film as I remembered… and we probably would have enjoyed “Zorro” as well, but midway into it, this naughty Catgirl couldn’t resist squirming around to tempt Carolyn into a little “heavy petting”…. just long enough for her to discover those scandalous undies of mine and after that…. well…. seeing the rest of the film was a pretty much a lost cause.
So….. the day ended pretty much as it began…. in our cozy warm bed, all cuddled together making love till we were both well and truly satisfied. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the most romantic day of the year…. and even now, two years into this relationship, I still can’t believe how blind I was to the wonderful possibility of “us” for all those years. I just thank my lucky stars for blessing me with the most amazing friend and lover any woman could ever hope for and just how well she fit right into that hole in my heart I never knew was there just waiting for her to make it whole. I want our lives together to continue just like this forever and ever.
So…. (even though I’m a bit late… as usual… Hehehe!!) here’s wishing a “Nekolishously Happy Valentines Day” to all my gentle Visitors here at the ol’ Litterbox and may your lives be as full of love and romance as you all deserve this romantic holiday season and until next time, “Meow, meow, for now!!”
