Summer is just moving right along, and it’s time to catch you all up to date on exactly what’s been going on with me. Not that I live an exciting life or anything, but the laws of Probability suggest that there are probably some of you out there that find my goofy life interesting.
By now… you are probably wondering what the heck happened on the 4th of July…. Did Carolyn and I go to the party? Is our relationship common knowledge now? ……Or did I just “chicken out” after all. You know what comes next…. It’s time to “Read On”!!
So…. the 4th of July Employee party for our restaurant. I did indeed go… and I brought Carolyn along with me too. She knew how incredibly nervous I was about it, but I didn’t let her pretend she didn’t want to go just to avoid embarrassing me. She’s been just wonderful about everything since we’ve been together, and this just seemed like the perfect way to show her once and for all that she’s in my heart to stay.
I wish I could say we had a wonderfully sunny day to frolic at the beach, but it was a dreary and rainy day for the most part. Luckily we had a nice big gazebo to set up food in and play some music while we snacked and danced and generally lounged about enjoying the day away from work. We got there early to help set stuff up and get the barbecue going.
I whipped up some spicy Korean Daeji Bolgogi to share… took me forever to tweak the recipe until it was juuust right. Not toooo spicy… not tooo boring… with just a hint of sweet fruity goodness and designed to go just perfectly with ice cold beer. Sam brought her favorite pasta and pepperoni salad, and everybody else from work went all out so that we ended up with enough yummy food to feed a veritable army. Most people brought some family along…. and after a while it was so busy that nobody even thought anything at all about Carolyn. Apparently I’d been worried about nothing after all. We partied until the wee hours and even got to cuddle up together that evening and watch the fireworks display thanks to a late afternoon clearing of the rain that lasted until well after midnight. So a good time was had by all.
Since that day, things have been busy, busy, busy at my place…. Goober managed to sneak his fuzzy lil’ butt out one evening to go and do whatever it is tomcats will do when they get the crazy desire to escape and run amok. Whatever that hobby is, it apparently involves the tomcat equivalent of gang fighting, extreme sports, unlimited cage fighting, or something of that sort for he dragged his butt back all bloody and torn up next morning requiring me to lose a morning at work hauling his butt to the vet. “Baaaad…. Baaaaad kitty!! No nibbles for you!!” It’s a good thing I love his fuzzy lil’ self….. Carolyn had already left for work that morning, so I had to haul his carrier across town in a taxi by myself…. I tell you, that cat owes me!!
Sigh….. At least this means he won’t try to escape again right away…. one of these is usually enough to satisfy his “call of the wild” for at least several months. Thank goodness….
Hmmmmm? What else? Let’s see….. My piles of DVD’s keep arriving, and soon I’l have some Norwegian, Finnish, and Ukrainian stuff to add to the “To Watch” list along with my usual Asian mix. I’m sqeezing them in as much as I can, but it’s amazing how much living with someone can eat into your free time. Not that I’m complaining… but I’ve been a single girl for a long time and have gotten used to having lots more “Me Time”.
I’m thinking of putting together a list of the DVD’s and posting it here at the Litterbox, so maybe you gentle readers can help steer me towards the ones you want me to watch and review first….. Keep your eye peeled for it.
Well. That seems like it for now…. Till next time, dear visitors, “Meow, meow for now!”
