Welcome again, gentle visitors, to yet another wee glimpse inside the personal world of this lil’ Catgirl….
My last weekend was busy, busy, busy yet again as the students at our local colleges streamed back into town after their Spring Break vacations. Most of them are tanned and relaxed and all ready to get back to their studies. I’m soooo darn jealous…..
Our weather here has continued to be grey, rainy, cloudy and ever soooo cold. We even got a snow storm today!! Can’t anybody see how much I want to enjoy my Spring already? WAAAAAHHH!!! I’m tired of freezin’ my lil’ tail off!!
But not all has been completely terrible lately. If you want to know just what glimmers of light still shine through the gloom though, you are just gonna have to “Read On”…… (Hehehehe!! I bet you just knew I was gonna say that…..)
Our Kitchen Manager finally had her surgery today, so we’ll find out soon how it’s gonna turn out. Till then, we’ve gotten in some help in the form of a couple of high school students in a “vocational training program in food service”. That’s a fancy way of saying we’ve got some “grunts” to do the truly tedious prep work that I and the other cook are really too darn busy to do ourselves most days.
While it’s fairly menial stuff, they do get school credit for it, valuable experience in a real kitchen, and even draw a paycheck at minimum wage. It’s not a perfect solution for us, but it’s certainly better than nothing. I guess that makes it a “win-win” for now.
Even so, we’re spread pretty thin…. just one of us on duty most days to run the kitchen and we double team the weekends. Most of the kids are pretty much useful for only the simplest of duties, and available only at night or on weekends but one of them actually has “the Touch” and could really do well if she continues on in this business.
Oh!! My new hairstyle! Well….. so far it’s been a big hit with everybody….Samantha and all the other girls at work tell me that they think it’s great… and it turned out to be a big hit with Carolyn too…. She saw it last Friday night when she arrived and just went crazy over it.
“OMG!!…… Miyuki!!….. I can’t believe you actually cut your hair!! It looks sooooo adorable on you!!” There was a big hug for me at this point followed by her spinning me around a couple of times to get “the whole picture”….. Her final opinion was that it has made me even cuter and taken 5 years off my look. Who am I to argue with my sweetie? Hehehehe!
I gave her the new apartment key that evening too…. I tried to be all nonchalant about it, but failed miserably. Carolyn knows me only too well…. My paranoia runs deep where my personal safety is involved and I don’t just trust people with things like that very easily. She said that knowing I wanted her to have it really touched her deeply. I’m just hoping it shows her how much I really have come to want her in my life….. Seems I never actually realized how lonely I’ve been these last few years as a single woman on my own. Maybe the girls at work saw that better than I ever did… I guess that would explain their desire to keep fixing me up on blind dates.
As for new movies… Well, I finally managed to get the opportunity to re-watch 1974’s “It’s Alive” so you can expect a new “Lil Kitten Classics” review for it in the next day or so here and over at Delirium Vault. I figure it’s appropriate as I’m also expecting “Tamami, The Baby’s Curse” to show up from Japan in the next week or so and this will give you the whole “killer mutant baby” experience – “Nekolishous style!!”
Also in the pipeline (I hope…) should be the Hindi film “1920”, a Korean comedy “Femme Fatale”, a Malay mermaid tale and a few others to numerous to name. Expect at least one by Monday or so….
Hmmmm? I guess that covers all the bases for this time out. Till next time…. stay warm and cozy, gentle visitors and “Meow, meow for now!!”
