A Moment of Silence…

I know it’s been a couple of weeks since I last managed to post anything…. I had thought to take the opportunity this afternoon on my day off from work to rectify that, but then while visiting another of our “Litterbox friends”, Miss Novia Rozet at her Blog Polychrome Interest, I learned she’d suffered the loss today of her beloved pet turtle Kame, whom she’s raised from a wee lil’ baby.

It somehow didn’t seem fun to consider writing a Review anymore today…. I can only imagine her pain, having felt much of that at the untimely death of my own little kitty Goober a couple of years ago. People who don’t have a pet really can’t understand the depths of attachment that you can have for one, and the terrible pain that comes with losing them.

So…. instead of my Review, I offer a moment of silence in the memory of those lost and send my heartfelt condolences across the world to lend you strength, dear Novia. May it bring you and Kroten comfort while you remember your dear lil’ Kame, and I’m hoping those Gentle Visitors here at the Litterbox will stop by and lend her some of their best wishes too….

“Urumi” aka “ഉറുമി” (2011) – Malayalam Historical Action/ Romance

This time out it’s a trip to sunny India for a look at the Malayalam language action epic, “Urumi”. Lots of vengeance driven butt kicking action old school style, as we get a chance to see just what sort of Martial Arts stuff was going on in India way back when.

Our synopsis goes like this: “Urumi” is set against the backdrop of the fierce warrior clans of northern Kerala on the Malabar Coast of India in the sixteenth century and focuses on legendary warrior Kelu Nayanar, a man with an epic mission of revenge. His target is Dom Vasco da Gama, the Viceroy of the Portuguese Empire in India. Seeking to avenge his father’s death at da Gama’s own hands, Kelu Nayanar, along with the aid of fierce Muslim warrior princess Ayesha of the famed Arakkal Sultanate of Cannanore, and supported by Vavvali, his childhood friend, must track his mission through the wild roads of treachery, treason and a hidden passion to reach a master plan to create his own local army to stand against the mighty Portuguese empire. His only weapon… a legendary golden urumi ribbon sword, specially made from the left over ornaments of the dead women and children who were burnt alive in the massacre of a Mecca Ship, Miri, commanded to be set on fire and drowned by Vasco da Gama during his second visit to Kerala in AD 1502.”

Mmmmmm!!! Crazy weapons to master… evil foreign invaders to kick the beejeebits out of… a beautiful warrior princess to woo…. some prerequisite singing and dancing numbers to do… and some big screen Martial Arts battle action to pull off? Sounds like our hunky Hero Kelu certainly has his work cut out for him. So what the heck are we waiting for? Let’s all “Read On” shall we?

Nekoneko’s Trailer Park: February 21st 2012

It’s Tuesday…. and so you Gentle Visitors know what that means. Yep. Another edition of your Favorite Catgirl’s “Trailer Park Tuesdays” with it’s peculiarly “Nekolishous” look at all the goofy movies that have caught my eye and made their way on to my list of cinema “must finds”. I mean…. somebody’s gotta watch these… so it might as well be lil’ ol’ me….

We’ve an eclectic selection to peek at this time out… A 3D Thai horror… a couple of bits of Japanese Zombie goodness… a Korean action comedy… and an Indian action film featuring perhaps the goofiest Hindi martial art weapon ever invented…. (Flying Guillotine look out!… There’s a new silly weapon in town… )

So hurry along!! Plenty of room down front… just watch the sticky spots as you make your way to your seats and we’ll give these a quick look-see. Be nice…. and no throwing jelly beans at the screen!! Hehehehe!!

“Jenglot Pantai Selatan” aka “Virgin Beach Creature” (2011) – Indonesian Horror

Yay!! My perseverance has scored me another few of those wacky Indonesian horror films that your Favorite Catgirl just seems to thrive on like salty snack foods…. soooo darn bad for you, but sooo darn tasty too!! Are they good movies? Ummmm… not all the time, but they are usually pretty fun lil’ bits of movie silliness… and that’s what counts.

Our synopsis is a bit sketchy but here goes: “Randy, Tammy, Denisa and Josh are going on holiday to a resort at “Virgin Beach”, recently developed as a seaside tourist attraction. But nobody knows that in the ocean near these beaches lurks the Jenglot, a horrible water spirit responsible for maintaining the purity of the southern beaches. Angered by the behavior of the visitors to the resort, the Jenglot creeps forth from the sea and hunts down anyone who desecrates the sanctity of his beach.”

So…. take a big bunch of pretty Indonesian girls in bikinis… throw in a few hunky guys…. a little potty humor… and one goofy rubber sea monster and I’ll be darned if you haven’t got yourself a movie! Am I expecting a classic? Nawwwww… But, at least my sweetie says she game for all the pretty Asian girls in bikinis that want to cavort their way through a film for our entertainment… (Such a brazen tease!! I’ll be certain to get even with her later!!) As always, to catch a bit of the action yourself, you just have to “Read On” and let Neko tell you all about it!

Carolyn’s Sneaky Surprise aka “Ninja Girlfriend Strikes Back”!!

WHEEEE!!! It’s official…. Valentines Day is now my favorite Holiday…. ever!!

My sweetheart Carolyn lived up to her promise and surprised yours truly with the sneakiest bit of “ninja girlfriend” action I’ve ever experienced in my whole life. After the last couple of days, Your Favorite Catgirl let her guard down…. expecting that maybe I’d get a nice “night out” some evening as my sweetie’s way of trying to reward me for my Valentines Day gift to her…. but it was then that she decided to strike… when I was least expecting it. The cunning sneak!!

Wanna here what super romantic way she decided to reward lil’ ol’ me? Then you have to hurry up and “Read On”…. silly!!

“Nightmare” aka “午夜凶梦” (2011) – Chinese Psychological Suspense/ Horror

Whew!!  With all my Valentines Day festivities over, it’s back to our usual stuff here at the ol’ Litterbox and a new review for the recent Mainland Chinese film “Nightmare” aka “午夜凶梦”, the latest Psychological Suspense/ Horror to try to tip-toe between the lines and stay carefully within those strict Chinese prohibitions against ghost stories at the movies these days.

Our synopsis for it goes along these lines:  “Young surgeon Fang Lei (Zhou Xianxin) has been constantly tormented by weird dreams and incidences of sleepwalking since she experienced the tragic murder of both her parents as a child. One day, she meets by chance her best friend from her orphanage days, Angel (Gillian Chung), who is now married to Lei’s ex-boyfriend Zhou Feng (Wu Jianfei). When her next door neighbor Wang Quan (Victor Huang) becomes entangled in Lei’s complicated life, it seems to trigger a series of inexplicable and deadly things. First Zhou Feng goes missing, and then Lei finds herself being stalked by the creepy girl ghost from her childhood nightmares, all the while more people in those dreams begin to turn up dead for real. Is she the somnambulant murderer as she fears, or is there a more supernatural reason for it all?”

Well… that has a promising sound to it, but, as a Mainland Chinese film, I expected this one to be yet another of the recent “bait & switch” horror movies to come out of China the last year or so. Not that a truly good effort wouldn’t be worth a look mind you…. So with some measure of trepidation, I decided to give this one a chance. Ok then… without wasting any more time, let’s all see if it was worth my risk and maybe even yours… shall we?

A Valentines Song For My Sweetie…

♡ Valentines Day♡ …. not just another Holiday for your Favorite Catgirl, it’s also an anniversary for my sweetie, Carolyn and I.

This year marks 4 wonderful years we’ve been together, she and I. My best friend… my most tender lover… and the very “Heart & Soul” who makes me feel whole and happier than anybody could imagine in their wildest dreams. I find I just can’t picture my life without her in it. I’m hopelessly, utterly, and completely hers… now and always.

So how can a slightly goofy Catgirl show her sweetheart just how much she’s come to mean to her? Well…. it has to be special… it has to be personal… and definitely it has to be something I know nobody else would ever think to give her.

And… most importantly of all….  it has to be a surprise….

So just what silly and extreme resumes did yours truly have to invoke to achieve these goals? Guess you’ll need to “Read On” to find out….

Nekoneko’s Trailer Park: February 14th 2012

Oh my goodness!! It’s Valentines Day!! But….. it’s also “Trailer Park Tuesday” again here at the ol “Litterbox”…. And, as your Favorite Movie Lovin’ Catgirl Princess has some special romantic hijinx in store to surprise her sweetheart tonight, I’m running a bit short for time this afternoon as I post this. Still, before I get to those plans, there’s just enough time to share with you my latest pile of Trailers of Coming Attractions… those movies that I’m just itching to see. Some at the movie theater…. most on DVD… but definitely all of them… one way or another.

So what cinema goodies are on our schedule this week? Well… let’s not waste any more time and get right to it and find out!!

“Cehennem 3D” (2010) – Turkish Ghost/ Horror

February is upon us and it’s time for a look at another of those hard to find horror goodies that your Favorite Catgirl finally managed to track down… 2010′s Turkish ghost story “Cehennem 3D”, the first 3D film ever produced in Turkey. I know… I know… I soooo detest the return of the 3D movie craze with all my lil’ heart and soul, but I do love my ghost stories and it’s been soooo darn long since anything from Turkey made it my way that I just couldn’t pass up the chance to see it.

Our synopsis goes like this: “Ahmet, is a photographer planning to do a fashion shoot on location at a deserted former candle factory. But this factory has an unsavory reputation for strange accidents, and years ago many people died in a terrible fire on the premises which led to its closure. There’s also the disturbing story of a mentally disabled child who allegedly died in that same fire leading to the widespread belief that the building is cursed. As a set for a photo shoot, though, it certainly has atmosphere, as it’s partially destroyed, isolated, dark and sinister. And as Ahmet, along with his wife and assistant Selim, goes ahead with his plans, it leads to terrifying events that no-one could ever have seen coming.”

Well now… that certainly sounds like it just might fit the bill for an evening’s movie watching fun, and the Trailer looks creepy and interesting, so let’s waste no further time shall we it’s time for you all to “Read On” and find out all about it!

Nekoneko’s Trailer Park: February 7 2012

Another week… and it’s a whole new month, and your Favorite Catgirl is still prowling about in search of even more lil’ “sneak peeks” at things to come movie -wise.

Not quite as many this time out… as I’ve been a busy, busy lady at work all this last week and unable to spend the time I usually do seeking them out… but no matter, Gentle Visitors… it’s the thrill of the  hunt that counts, right?

So without further dilly-dallying around let’s all get right to it then, shall we?
