Well… Halloween Night rushes towards us and Week 4 whizzed right by me and now the final days have finally rolled around before I knew it. Much as earlier in the month, this wee Catgirl is still super busy with all my seemingly endless “Real World” responsibilities. D’ohhh!! No fair!!
Still… I’m plugging away at things, even though hoping the Halloween Fairies of the Night will smile down on this wee lady with a little holiday magic to help me make all my “Halloween Dreams”… (Or should that be “Nightmares”?)… come true seems a bit unlikely at this point. Still I deserve a lil’ candy for all my efforts so I’m crossing my lil’ paws for luck!!
So what’s all the latest news then? Well come on in Gentle Visitors and let Neko tell you all about it.
Goodness. Work has just been one incredible grueling grind for me this month. How much of a grind? Well… our increased seating of late has kept me hopping and now…. just at the eleventh hour… I’ve found out my Halloween Party plans are not going to work out this year. Nope. Not gonna happen.
Yep. They’ve booked an in-house private party for that evening at the restaurant, and as Kitchen Manager, yours truly gets stuck with working it that evening as many of my other cooks and helpers already have plans with their own children and families. Grrrrrr!! But… but…. Miyuki’s “Inner Kitten” wanted soooo badly to go out “Trick or Treating” with my sweetie and Sam again this year!! Sigh…. that means responsible lil’ ol’ me will have to suck it up and be a grown-up this time out. Darn it. Somebody’s sooooo gonna owe me big time… and they better come bearing candy…
So… despite my desire to spring another round of theme costumes on Carolyn and Sam, it’s looking like your Favorite Catgirl Princess is gonna just have to wait till some other worthy occasion. Which… as it happens… might not be all that far off after all.
In a way, I might just get to use all my work for another party later next month. Yep, Sam tells me that there’s going to be a special event down at our favorite bar to celebrate the Dr. Who 50th anniversary special being shown on BBC America. Gotta love the notion of a bar with a big screen TV in a college town full of Dr. Who fans. I can’t imagine a more fitting bit of fun and nonsense than to show up as our “Mirror-verse” Paternoster Trio and join in the celebration in proper style.
Luckily for me that will also give me a few more weeks to get things just the way I’d like them too. I should be able to squeeze in some of my…. **ahem**…. originally overly ambitious ideas, that I’d just about given up on having the time to pull off. Like maybe even having a seamstress work on our dresses! I’ve found just the most lovely pattern for Carolyn’s already… handy since there wasn’t really anything useful at the college for her outside of a nice pair of button-up boots that we could borrow.
Most of Sam’s maid outfit was there… leftover from some old production they’d done, and I found a couple of bits I could use for Madam Meesha. But I’ve had most of my luck on the Internet shopping for those ‘special bits” that will just make these costumes soooo darn cool… like a nifty vintage leather “utility belt” for Evelyn the jewel thief that I know Carolyn will just want to keep wearing even after the fun and games are over.
However…. the absolutely best thing I’ve located has to be a set of nifty “finger claws”…. baroque “steampunky” looking things I found on eBay. The perfect accessory for the budding genetically modified extraterrestrial Catgirl Warrior who just might have an urgent need to rip somebody’s face off….. Hey… It could happen…
Anyways… that’s how things look ’round here. Hopefully even if a certain Kitten has to put her fun on hold, here’s hoping you all get to party for the Holiday in proper fashion., and I’m hoping all my Gentle Visitors enjoy far more “Treats” than “Tricks”… and ’till next time, “Meow, meow!!”
