I know… I know… It’s been quite a few weeks since last I posted here at the ol’ Litterbox…
I wish I could say I had lots and lots of good reasons for my absence, but truth to say, I’ve just been a bit of a lazy lil’ slug these last couple weeks since I was sick leaving me with zero creativity… zero ambition… and a serious case of the “winter blues” to deal with.
Still… I didn’t want all you Gentle Visitors to worry yourselves silly wondering just what I’d been up to during my “downtime”, so…. with a ridiculously fierce winter storm dropping butt-loads of the fluffy white stuff on my neck of the woods, it seemed prudent to shake off my lethargy and spend my evening cluing you all in to what’s been happenin’ to your Favorite Catgirl of late….
So… if you’ve been missin’ wee lil’ me and are still the least bit curious, that’s your cue to “Read On”…..
So… with Christmas behind me, I was expecting a fairly nice New Years this year…. and I can’t really say I was disappointed, what with my Birthday coming so soon afterwards. That was nice… with Carolyn going all out to lavish lil’ ol’ me with plenty of love and attention for the occasion. This year’s present? Why the sexiest lil purple batik sarong you ever saw…. although the snow seems determined to make it something I wont get the chance to really wear till the warmth of Summer finally catches up with us. (Although Carolyn hinted that she wouldn’t mind if it showed up on me around the apartment some evening soon….. the naughty minx!!)
That might actually have happened too…. If the nasty flu bug of the decade hadn’t chosen to drop in for a visit that is. Not even two days after my birthday it snuck up and mugged me but good. Probably the result of too many wine coolers and quite a bit of silly running around outdoors between bars that night on my “Special Day”….. Is it my fault I always get to feelin’ hot and sweaty when I drink too much? Dancing on the snowy deck of one of our local nightclubs probably didn’t help either. Damn…. it was loads of fun though……
In any event, a couple of days later I paid for all that revelry. I knew something was wrong that morning at work… and the headache I had then was only a taste of what was to come. By the time that evening rolled around I was already coughing and achy and starting to produce mucus like there was no end to it. There was no way I was going to be able to work the next day, medicated or not… “Nurse” Carolyn put her foot down on that idea.
My sweetie has the most amazingly strong instinct to care for me when I’m under the weather… and so it was medicine, lots of water, warm bundling into bed, and her right beside me where she could look after me. Big mistake for her…. Three in the morning rolled around and yours truly was awakened by a coughing and sneezing fit that ended with me grabbing a fierce hold of my sweetie, half awake and half asleep, and blowing a giant wad of horrid slimy yellow-green snot right between Carolyn’s breasts!! Eeewwwhhh!! Yep… couldn’t have been more embarrassing. No way… no how.
What made it worse? Why having Carolyn clean herself up and fuss around with seeing to gross lil’ me, still more worried about me than disgusted or worried about herself. I know she came down with my “plague” a day later just because of that, and I felt terrible about giving that flu to her too. That resulted in the both of us being housebound for about 4 days. I suppose it could have been worse…. at least I didn’t get feverish or hallucinatory this time out. I suppose that’s something anyway.
Carolyn bounced back from it first… and I threw it off a day or so later, although even now I still have a bit of a cough to contend with. I don’t usually get sick like this, thank goodness… but when I finally do it’s always a whopper. (Have I ever told you all just how much I absolutely dislike Winter, Gentle Visitors?)
After that, as has been painfully evident, I just sort of lost traction, both here at the Litterbox and in my “Real World” stuff. Probably my mercurial moods reacting to Winter’s annoying seemingly endless cold…. so damn annoying at times. I’ve done a few things here and there… and as some may have noticed that Images and broken Trailer links have been quietly being put right for old Reviews here at the Litterbox. It’s tedious work…. but something I’ve been putting off since the move from Delirium vault to WordPress kinda dumped all my Media data into a big ol’ cardboard box labeled “Kitchen Stuff” and then hid it away in the closet of my lil’ corner of the Internet….. I’ve been pawing through duplicate files…. dead links… and mangled stuff, trying to put it right ever since. At least I’m making a bit of headway there.
Well. I’m going to try to shake my doldrums now, and hopefully have a Review up in the next day or so for a recent Philippine horror story “Amarosa: The Revenge”….. and…. if I’m able, for “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”. Carolyn says we’re definitely going out for “Movie Nite” this Saturday even if it snows like the proverbial “End of Days”…… Sigh!! So precious… My sweetie is really starting to share my crazy taste in film……
So…. I guess that’s it for now. Here’s hoping I’ve got my ambition kicked in the butt at last and things can get back to being a little more lively around here again. Till next time, “Meow, meow for now!!”

Enjoying your writing as ever, and sending lots of love.
Next time put some onions in your bedroom (unpeeled work as well) ‘cos they attract bacteria and viruses. Do not eat them afterwards!
See you princess
Hahaha!!
I peel and slice so many onions at work that maybe that’s why I seem to catch all the most dire colds when they are lurking around. There are days when no amount of washing can seem to remove the scent of onions, and sometimes after a good hot shower I have a definite odor of onions or garlic to me. Carolyn always teases me and tells me it’s because I’m “delicious”…
As always… nice to hear from you and my biggest **hug** Marcel!!
Oh my. Thank you for posting. Lastech and I were getting a bit concerned. This flu season is a bad one. I’m sorry that both of you got it. I’m glad Carolyn took good care of you. You know it’s love when she still takes care of you in spite of getting snotted.
I’ve managed to avoid it so far, but the season isn’t over in CA. Lastech had a bad cold, but he’s getting over it already. We haven’t posted much either. I’ve managed to do a couple of Caturday posts, but not much else. With luck, things will change after this week.
I’m glad that both of you are on the mend. It’s ok to feel uninspired when it comes to blogging. It happens. Stay safe in the blizzard.
Yep…. once in a great while I just find myself slipping into a funk when the winter winds blow and then it’s hard to feel much like doing anything.
Carolyn has always been super careful to watch over me ever since the winter a few years back when I got all delirious and hallucinatory with a terrible fever. I think it scared her so much she’s always wanted to make certain I never get that sick again.
It was soooo darn embarrassing to blow all that nasty snot on her… I thought for certain she’d pull my old body pillow off the top of our trunk at the foot of the bed to kind of “quarantine” me on my own side of the bed after that. Instead she just rolled me over so she could spoon behind me, rub my back, and keep my nose pointed in a safe direction for the rest of the night. ♥ Such a devoted sweetheart… definitely a keeper!!
♥
Nice to hear I’m not the only one experiencing the “Winter Blues”… here’s hoping for some warm weather soon to raise all our spirits
Hi Miyuki
didn’t realize you have posted a new post till few days ago…but I was so busy to drop by and say “tadaima”
Your missing in action was quite long
I can only imagine how it feels to have the flu in winter…must be terrible. It’s nice reading about nurse Carolyn … lucky you
I’m usually unlucky enough to catch the flu every single year right around this time…
Thank goodness I have my sweetie to watch over me now.
My Mom might have though of me as her “Little Winter Girl” for having been born in that season but I’m definitely anything but that. I just can’t stand cold weather….
“Winter Baaaaad!!… Summer Gooood!!”
Yep…. I’ve been a real slacker lately, hopefully I’ll rally soon and get my ambition back on track. I keep trying, but somehow I just can’t seem to get revved up and motivated of late.
