Whew…. as my recent visitors can see, the Gremlins that have bedeviled this wee Lady these last couple of months or so are still wreaking their havoc with my personal free time.
I’m waaaaaay, waaaaay behind myself on my duties here at the ol’ Litterbox of late and I’ve fallen back even further with my own day-to-day stuff at home these last few weeks.
So…. before the “Big Day” finally comes and goes, and I turn back into a pumpkin or something, I thought I might bring all my Gentle Visitors, both regular and those merely passing by, up to date on what’s been going on with lil’ ol’ me….
So…. when last I brought you all up to date with my boring life, I was struggling with all those nasty “responsibilities” that were dead set on smothering just about all the fun outta my life. Grrrrrr!!!
God there are days I sooooo hate being “all grown-up”….. I swear, children don’t really grasp just how good they truly have it. There are definitely times when my “inner kitten” aches for another helping of those carefree days of youth. Carolyn just laughs and tells me I shouldn’t worry…. she swears I’ll always have enough childlike whimsy to keep the both of us young forever. I’m just glad I’ve found someone to share it all with who thinks that’s a good thing…….
Luckily for me… although my work has been my biggest source of entanglement lately, I can at least now stand back and breathe a bit easier as I’ve finally bit the bullet and filled not just one… but all three of the positions in the kitchen staff that I needed to fill. Including the most difficult, the Sous Chef I needed to take much of the daily responsibility back away from burying me completely. Oooooohh, and I really lucked out there…. having had the most amazing person sent my way by my friendly fellow Head Chef over at our local Moroccan restaurant. I’d mentioned my need for a really competent applicant for the position to her one evening when Carolyn, Sam, and I were in for dinner and… surprise, surprise…. a couple days later Shéryfa showed up to apply for the job. She’s the most delightfully exotic lady of Afro/ French heritage with excellent culinary skills, great references, and enough experience to fit the bill perfectly. I made an instant instinctive connection with her and so I worked her a couple of days this last week on a trial basis and she’s just an absolutely fantastic cook… not to mention a really nice person who seems to be fitting in great with the rest of my crew. Yay!!
Whew…. so now I ought to be able to drop my hours back from the torturous 65-70 a week I’ve been putting in to a more normal humane pace. Unfortunately… as is painfully evident from my utter failure to get absolutely anything done of any real substance here at the Litterbox this October… this year, my own Halloween is certainly not going to be the elaborate celebration I usually manage. Being so darn busy, I’ve had no spare time at all to plan any real costuming fun for tonight…. the “Big Night”… so it looks as if there’ll be no party time for lil’ ol’ me. Aaauuuuggghhh!!
Still…. Carolyn and I will probably still go out for a little bit of fun tonight, but without the “dress-up” it’ll seem pretty darn tame. (Have I mentioned yet how much I hate being all “grown-up” and responsible?
)
Oh well. In any event, I’m hoping once my schedule slides back to normal (and stays there, I hope) starting Monday that I’ll be able to devote more of my time to things ’round here. I have managed to squeeze in a few movies that desperately need reviews, and I’ve been planning another crossover dual-review with our good friend elpeevio of “Things Fall Apart” that hopefully should happen very soon. (Keep your lil’ paws… errr… I mean fingers… crossed for me.
)
Well… I guess this will have to do for now, as I’m off to work to put in a couple of hours this afternoon with Shéryfa to walk her through inventory and vendor details. So for now, it’s this wee Catgirl’s wish that you all have a “Happy Halloween” with all the best “Tricks and Treats” of your very own and until next time, “Meow, meow for now!!”

Happy Halloween Miyuki
You are all grown up now? heheh maybe I should try that too
Don’t work too much…you still need to have fun time in real life or net life
Hahaha!! There are definitely days lately that I’m fully aware that I’m no longer that footloose young woman I was back in college. Good thing?… Bad thing?… Not really sure. I just can’t believe how it just snuck up on me over the years.
Yes… I’m looking forward to my work hours settling down to normal again. I’ve been missing the opportunity to do so many things lately that I like.
Hey. It’s daimyodrum, from the ol’ DV days. Thought I’d look up and see if DV was still around, and landed here. Glad to see you are doing well. Or at least doing. Take care, now!
Why long time no see!
It’s good to see another of the old gang drop by for a quick hello. Hope you come back and visit again…. there’s always room for old friends.
